MSC 121 is available for music majors who need additional background in fundamentals before beginning the theory and history sequence. Improvement of aural skills and musicianship skills will be achieved through the following activities: solfeggio, sight singing, rhythmic reading, melodic dictation, rhythmic dictation, harmonic hearing , error detection.

  1. Lavingnac 1 d no:1,5 / Verkaaren 1, 2 / Fontaine 7-9 / Zbiour cwiczen no:1 / Waignein solfege elementaire 1 - 5 / aural exercises / sight reading. Keyboard Skills - five finger motions, five note scale (ascending/descending), play hands separately. Chords: C, F, G Major I, IV, V triads (root posit.) in three/four parts using all octaves of the piano. Playing arpeggios - hands separately.
  2. Lavingnac 1 – d no: 6,7 / Verkaaren 3, 5 / Fontaine 10-12 / Zbiour cwiczen no: 6 / Waignein solfege elementaire 5 – 10 / Solfege contemporain vol 1. no: 1, 2 / aural exercises / sight reading. Keyboard skills - Scales, arpeggios: C,F,G Major keys, one / two octave scales. Chords: I. IV. V triads (in root pos.) in three/four parts, close and open positions. Sight reading of a in piece C/G Maj. for the following range: C3 - D5, treble/bass clefs.
