A capstone course and the first part of a yearlong senior team project. Teamwork on assigned projects to complete the initial phases of the software development lifecycle which are initial project plan, requirements specification, and software design. Development of a product prototype and its presentation before continuing to second part of this course which is "CTIS456 Senior Project II".

- Software project / Software process models. Understanding user requirements and initial risks. Collecting requirements. Project scope and stakeholder management. Project Risk analysis and management.
- Project communication management and conflict resolution. Project change control and configuration management.
- Deliverable 1: Submission of Initial Plan Documents. Feedback sessions on the Initial Plan document.

- Introduction of the Software Requirements Specification (SRS) Documents A and B. Developing UML Use Case models and discovering non-functional requirements.
