General discipline of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). Issues of human factors and the design of computer application interfaces. Psychological and social aspects of HCI. Real-world examples of VR, AR, web and mobile applications. Individual and/or team work to design, implement, and evaluate various interactive systems and user interfaces. Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the fundamental aspects of human perception, cognition, and learning. Design, implementation, and evaluation of interfaces.
Haftalık konular 14 hafta
- Introduction to HCI: what HCI is and why it matters; usability vs. UX; good and bad design examples; HCI beyond screens.
- Human cognition, mental models and human error: perception, attention, memory, decision-making and motor control.
- Visual design and Gestalt principles: visual hierarchy, typography, proximity, similarity, figure-ground.
- Interaction design principles: Norman's design principles and Shneiderman's Eight Golden Rules.
- Inspection-based evaluation: Nielsen's heuristics, severity rating and cognitive walkthrough. Interface Critique assigned.
- User-centered design, research and information architecture; project groups formed and problem framed.
- Prototyping with Figma, mobile HCI and design systems.
- Advanced prototyping and designer-developer handoff; Written Midterm examination.
- User-based usability evaluation: test planning, think-aloud protocol, SUS and related metrics.
- Eye-tracking evaluation integrated into the project evaluation phase.
- Accessibility, inclusive design and iteration (WCAG). Accessibility Critique assigned.
- Human-Robot Interaction and Pepper studio activity; Wizard-of-Oz method.
- Emerging interaction: Extended Reality (XR) and Human-AI Interaction (conceptual, discussion-based).
- Ethics and term project presentations; written final exam scope announced.
